There are many great Interior Designers out there bringing their own creativity and unique designs to the industry. Yet, we wanted to highlight some amazing women designers that are not only bringing great contributions to the world of interior design but have also made a huge impact in other industries as well. On second thought, why not, women can do it all! So here is a list of talented women who have created a name for themselves in design.

Venus Williams | V Starr Interiors

Tennis is not her only passion. Venus Williams started her design firm V Starr Interiors and has since expanded her firm outside of her hometown and is working on projects all over the U.S. The firm’s philosophy is “We do it right and we do it on time.”  Venus’ background in sports has helped her in breaking barriers and accomplishing all that she has thus far. Hard work, preparation, dedication, and instinct are all skills that she has attained from the sport of tennis and she continues to use those same qualities when delivering work that both she and her clients can be proud of.

The team at V Starr Interiors has completed work for the Intercontinental in Miami, Florida where they renovated the Presidential, Royal and Executive suites back in 2012. This was the team’s first major project in the Hospitality Industry and the scope of work included flooring, walls, ceiling, bathroom fixtures, as well as furniture selections. The look of one suite can be described as elegant, lush and sophisticated incorporating the rich and warm undertones of the Florida lifestyle. Splashes of orange, soft greens, blues and a bit of copper can be found in different elements of the suites. The East Coast Railway inspired much of the designs. The team has gone on to design other luxury condos, subdivisions and residential homes in luxury developments as well as other facilities at Universities.

Twinkle Khanna | The White Window

Twinkle Khanna is a famous film actress and film producer who made her on-screen debut in a romance called Barsaat in 1995 where she worked alongside Bobby Deol. From there she continued to play lead roles in other films and later left the acting profession behind and pursued interior design. She became co-owner of the White Window, a chain of interior design stores in Mumbai. Since opening, the store has received an Elle Décor International Design Award. Khanna has designed for residential, commercial, retail and hospitality spaces and is known for her expert use of texture and handcrafted furniture.

With no formal design education, it’s safe to say that Khanna has been able to build a multimillion-dollar empire of pure talent, dedication, and passion. Since opening her store, she plans to expand and open other stores and has won awards for one of 2 books she has released called “Mrs. Funnybones”. The other book titled “The Legend of Lakshmi Prasad”, like her first novel, sold over 100,000 copies. Khanna continues to give back and is the Chief Mentor to the Interior Design students at the INIFD Academy of Interiors, a resource that will train students in the interior design industry. Khanna is the definition of a business mogul.
